Una ceremonia distinta es lo que propone la Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas ofreció este domingo 27 de marzo cuando, en directo para todo el mundo, transmitió la 94 entrega de los Premios Oscar. 

Con algunas secuencias pregrabadas, la presencia de famosos no ligados al cine y otras sorpresas, la organización intentó remontar las bajas audiencias que, a lo largo de los años, ha tenido y que ahora amenazan la existencia del tradicional evento.

Es probable que logre su objetivo, pero no por las razones que la organización tenía en mente, sino por el golpe que Will Smith le dio a Chris Rock en vivo; luego de que este hiciera una broma sobre la alopecia de su esposa, Jada Pinkett-Smith, que se puede leer en nota aparte.
